What Is A Non-Surgical Nose Job?

What Is A Non-Surgical Nose Job?

One of the key features on the face is the nose. It is the center of the face, so naturally, our eyes focus in on people’s noses. The nose plays a huge role in your facial harmony. It can sit well with your other features and enhance facial symmetry. A bump or slant in the nose can throw off facial harmony and impact your satisfaction with your appearance.

However, there are things you can do to improve your nose! A rhinoplasty or ‘nose job’ is a popular and effective way to change the size or shape of your nose. But it’s a costly and painful procedure with lots of downtime. Plus, surgeons claim it takes nearly a year to see the end result because of the extensive swelling. So for many, a surgical rhinoplasty is not an option. So what can you do?

Here at Sisu Clinic, one of our most popular treatments is a non-surgical nose job. Also referred to as a liquid rhinoplasty, this treatment involves adding filler to the nose to change the size, shape, or smoothness of the nose. You can enjoy results immediately, which can last anywhere from nine to 12 months. For this reason, it’s a treatment with a high satisfaction rate. Let’s dive into everything you need to know about a non-surgical nose job.

What is a Liquid Rhinoplasty?

The terms liquid rhinoplasty and non-surgical nose job are used interchangeably, but both refer to the same treatment. Dermal filler is injected deep within the layers of the skin where your nose holds its shape. Filler can create volume to soften bumps on the bridge, lift the nose tip, and give the illusion of a smaller nose.

Dermal fillers, sometimes called soft tissue fillers, are medically approved gel-like substances that are injected deep into the skin to plump and smooth the skin. They are predominantly made with hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance that binds with water. Other ingredients vary, depending on the brand of filler. But they often contain substances like calcium hydroxylapatite, a mineral, and poly-L-lactic acid, which stimulates collagen production.

When injected into the skin, fillers can add volume and fullness to the target area, like the lips, for example. They also have a smoothing effect, which is why they are often used to smooth lines and wrinkles.

So how can dermal fillers be used in the nose? A few of the most common complaints people have about their nose include:

  • Bumps or indents that alter the angle or projection of the nose
  • A downward sloping nose
  • A misshapen tip
  • The general size of the nose in proportion to other facial features

All of these complaints can be improved by dermal filler in the nose!

But dermal filler isn’t the only treatment option for a non-surgical nose job. More people than ever are coming into the clinic in search of the ‘tinkerbell tip lift’. A tinkerbell nose lift usually involves a combination of botox and fillers to lift the tip of the nose.

Botox for A Non-Surgical Nose Job

Botox is a muscle relaxant. It temporarily paralyzes muscle activity to smooth out wrinkles. However, it’s not just for wrinkles! Botox can be used for a variety of different purposes including for a non-surgical nose job.

How botox can be used for a liquid rhinoplasty depends on the anatomy of the nose and desired goals. One example of how botox can be used is to create a slimmer, upward-turned nose. Botox would be injected into the depressor septi nasi muscle - the muscle of the nose that pulls it dowards, making the tip wider and more bulbous. When this muscle is relaxed, the nose is perkier and upward-turned, and the tip appears smaller.

There are other ways to use botox as part of a liquid rhinoplasty, and this is something your Sisu provider will discuss during your consultation.

How Long Does Nose Filler Last?

The effects of a non-surgical nose job last for nine to 12 months on average. This is a temporary procedure, making it a great alternative to invasive, costly and permanent surgeries.

Many people are worried about permanent surgeries, particularly when performed on the face, in case they go wrong. Interestingly, according to a study, a surgical rhinoplasty has the highest dissatisfaction rate of any cosmetic procedure. Due to this, many people are in search of a nose job without surgery. Our liquid rhinoplasty treatment is a perfect alternative.

How long the nose filler will last depends person-to-person. The longevity of filler depends on a number of factors, like the type and amount of filler injected. But the most important factor is how quickly you metabolize it. This is not something you can control! People with faster metabolisms will metabolize filler more quickly. But on average, a liquid rhinoplasty lasts anywhere between nine and 12 months.

The good news is that studies have shown that due to the hyaluronic acid component in filler, they stimulate the body’s natural collagen production over time. An early, landmark study published in the Archives of Dermatology found that hyaluronic acid fillers stimulated the production of “a significant amount of collagen”, when measured 12 weeks post-treatment.  So your non-surgical nose job will have some lasting benefits!

What Happens in a Non-Surgical Nose Job?

Not everyone is a suitable candidate for a liquid rhinoplasty. The only way to establish whether it will be right for you is to book a free consultation at Sisu Clinic. Our cosmetic doctors will assess your nose and points of concern to recommend treatment options, to guarantee that you are happy with the outcome.

Once your suitability is confirmed, you can schedule your appointment for a non-surgical nose job at a clinic near you.

During your appointment, your Sisu provider will inject filler or botox, or a combination, into targeted areas in your nose. The results from a filler nose job are instant. Botox typically takes around a week to come into effect, with results from botox lasting around three to four months.

The treatment itself is non-invasive, quick and largely painless. You may experience minimal swelling and bruising for the first day or two, but it will not be severe. You can immediately return to your usual activities, as there is no downtime.

Despite this, the results can be dramatic. Many patients feel their confidence restored after the treatment, and notice a visible improvement in their facial harmony. This is why a non-surgical nose job is often a preferred choice for many patients looking to improve the appearance of their nose.
